Patient Rights:

Right to Access Healthcare

To benefit equitably from necessary preventive and therapeutic health services for maintaining a healthy life; in cases where services are not available, to be referred to a healthcare facility where services can be provided.

To have equal access to healthcare services without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, language, belief, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, age, disability, health insurance, economic or social status.

To receive services that are satisfactory in terms of medical ethics, international quality standards, technology, comfort, and human relations.

To benefit from priority services in accordance with laws and medical criteria in urgent cases.

Right to Information and Communication

To be fully and accurately informed in an understandable manner about the treatment processes, the benefits and risks of the procedures to be applied, the course of treatment, and alternative treatment options.

To know the names, identities, and professional titles of the people providing the service.

To review medical records and request corrections when necessary, to the extent permitted by law.

To know that the university hospital provides training for some service providers.

To receive information in a manner respectful of values, beliefs, emotional state, and life philosophy. To request an interpreter if necessary.

Right to Confidentiality

To keep medical records, payment information, contact details, and other information confidential unless permitted by law, even after death.

To know that no medical intervention for research or educational purposes will be carried out without the consent of the patient or legal representative, and to know that consent will be obtained before revealing their name if participating in research.

To notify doctors and other healthcare professionals of unexpected changes or incompatibilities during the treatment process.

Compliance with Suggestions

To fully participate in care and treatment, collaborating with all personnel on all matters.

To always ask questions if any procedure, treatment, medications, or expectations are not understood, and to inform the doctor if not following the recommendations.

Avoiding Inappropriate Requests

To refrain from objecting to changes in order or extended waiting times due to medical necessity.

To refrain from requesting non-recommended procedures or medications not included in the treatment plan.

To be respectful to other patients, their families, and staff, and help control noise and confusion.

Examination and Treatment Costs

To pay for treatment costs and compensate for damages caused to devices and equipment.

Our Patient Safety Policies

Medication Safety: Medication safety starts with patient identification, and checks are made for look-alike and sound-alike medications, drug interactions, high-risk medications, adverse effects, medication errors, restricted antibiotics, and abbreviations.

Surgical Procedure / Surgery Safety: Surgical or procedural safety is ensured through right side, right procedure, right patient surgery, safe surgical control, and anesthesia safety control forms.

Fall Prevention: Necessary precautions are taken. Fall risk assessments are among the initial criteria for patient evaluation. The risk of falling is pre-assessed by a physician using an age-appropriate fall risk scale, and nurses take necessary precautions for patients with high fall risk. Continuous facility/building inspections are carried out to prevent dangers like wet floors and loose cables that may cause falls for patients, their relatives, and staff.

Pain Management: Upon initial arrival, and periodically thereafter, the location, severity, frequency, nature, influencing factors, and target pain level of the pain are assessed for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Infection Prevention: Infection control programs, hygienic handwashing, isolation methods, hospital cleaning, waste management, sterilization, and disinfection methods, and surgical prophylaxis practices are implemented to prevent hospital infections.

Confidentiality of Information - Privacy: Medical information of patients is kept confidential and is only accessible to healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care.

Accuracy of Test Results: Necessary maintenance and calibration of our devices are carried out.

Effective and Adequate Communication - Information: All employees receive annual training on communication techniques. Patients can easily ask questions to doctors/nurses/front desk staff.

Our Employee Health and Safety Policies: Risk assessment related to occupational health and safety, entry medical examinations, practices ensuring employee safety (hand hygiene, use of gloves, protective equipment, face and eye protection, use of aprons, disinfection of care materials, prevention of sharp object injuries, etc.), field inspections, waste management, radiation safety, building facility management, tracking of occupational accidents, occupational diseases, and work-related health problems, and occupational health and safety training are conducted. All monitoring, control, measurement, and training activities are documented to ensure that the work is carried out systematically, effectively, and continuously.

Our Climate and Environmental Policies: Management practices are implemented in line with criteria such as environmental sensitivity, energy-efficient use, and proper management of resources. The preference for reusable products, the use of recycling, careful, efficient, and economical use of water, and internal energy efficiency training are provided.
